VALKYRIES - pronounced (val-keer'-eez)

The Early Years (1999-2001)
Valkyries was formed during the summer of 1999 and built a solid line-up of committed team players, which collaborated to create some RadioActive, (original) rock. Valkyries toured extensively as an original band from Maine to New York City, received airplay on several radio stations and had built up a large fan base. After a very successful 2 years, some members decided to leave the band to pursue other interests. At that point, Deb DeTuccio (drums), original founding member of Valkyries decided to seek new band mates and change the focus of the band.

The Transformation (2002-2004):
Valkyries continues as an all female rock band, which plays a diverse mix of original 'rock' tunes, as well as cover tunes, that pay Tribute to the Greatest Female Artists of All Time!We cover everything from Aretha Franklin and Pretenders to Melissa Etheridge and Gwen Stefani (No Doubt) and of course everything in between! We play rock, classic rock and alternative genres - we like to mix it up. Valkyries original tunes are a collaborative effort and bring together several genres of music. So, there's something for everyone!
Deb spent some time searching for the right blend of talent, passion and personalities and has put together a solid group of professional 'female' musicians. The band, in total experience, has over 50+ years in various aspects of music. Valkyries has 3 vocalists, which adds diversity to the songs and the 3-part harmonies are incredible! Valkyries showmanship is second to none and they are known for their must see live show, which keeps people coming back for more.

Band Name:
Valkyries is taken from Norse Mythology and means 'angels of battle'. Their primary duty was to choose the bravest of the dead heroes from the battlefields and bring them back to the afterlife in Valhalla. Valkyries were warlike goddess-maidens that wore brilliant armor and rode through the air on winged horses. Life giving dew fell from the manes of their horses, light streamed from the points of their spears and a flickering brightness heralded their arrival on the scene of the battle. This flickering light was said to have caused the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights). Valkryies was chosen as the band name, as it represents powerful woman, renewal and the ability to alter destiny.
